Alaska Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (AKPDMP)

The Alaska Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (AKPDMP) is Alaska's solution for monitoring Schedule II -V controlled substances dispensed in Alaska. This program is designed to improve patient care and foster the goal of reducing misuse, abuse, and diversion of controlled substances; and to encourage cooperation and coordination among state, local, and federal agencies and other states to reduce the misuse, abuse, and diversion of controlled substances.

Requirements

AS 17.30.200 requires that each dispenser shall submit, by electronic means, information regarding each prescription dispensed for a controlled substance. Each dispenser shall submit the required information to the central repository at least once each month unless the board waives this requirement for good cause shown by the dispensing vendor.

The State of Alaska’s vendor - Health Information Designs (HID) has developed a database that will collect and store prescribing and dispensing data for Schedule II -V controlled substances and any other drugs specified by Alaska law as amended. HID's RxSentry® is a Web-based program that facilitates the collection, analysis, and reporting of information on the prescribing, dispensing, and use of controlled substance prescription drugs.

Instructions

Complete instructions for creating your account, logging on to the new Alaska PDMP site, and submitting your data files are provided in the RxSentry Dispenser's Implementation Guide located on the Alaska PDMP website.
