Manufacturers’ Association The Alaska
Manufacturers Association (AKMA) assists small to medium sized businesses
is virtually every type of manufacturing in Alaska. They offer advice and
assistance in business problem solving, in finding appropriate technologies,
and in adopting the most advanced technologies available. Of particular interest to Alaska seafood
marketers is the Alaska
Salmon Quality Program, managed and coordinated by AKMA. Designed
to increase the quality of salmon in order to better compete with farmed
salmon, the program involves voluntary conformity with handling procedures
from the time the fish is harvested, regular inspections, certification,
and the marketing of quality certified fish. Surefish,
Inc. provides the training and general management for the program.
