AFO Website - Redesign |
|
Alaska Film Office - Website Redesign The State of Alaska has implemented a system-wide website redesign. At the Alaska Film Office we took that opportunity to re-work our website and make it a better tool for both Productions, Alaska Businesses and Alaskans. We're proud to announce that the updated site is now online and available to the general public. We anticipate that additional refinements and features will be added over the next weeks and months. In the meantime we encourage you to explore the site and give us your feedback. We think it's a significant improvement over the old site, but no website should be static - we need your help to make sure that the site is working for Alaska's film industry. Please let us know what you think, there's even a handy new online comment form on the contact page. Please visit us at www.film.Alaska.gov. |

As of today, a total of 54 productions have pre-qualified for the Alaska Film Industry Tax Credit. All totalled, these productions anticipate spending over $142.7 million in Alaska. We estimate that represents almost $46.8 million in tax credits. Several new productions' pre-qualifications are pending and should be approved in the next week or two. Of those 53 productions, 18 have completed the process and been approved for a tax credit. That brings us to a total of $6,269,828.85 in tax credits approved based on verified expenditures of of over $19 million. Since several other productions (including a major feature film shot in Anchorage) have wrapped over the past few months, we anticipate seeing a surge in tax credit applications. Inquiries from around the globe continue to come in, and we're also seeing a number of productions reconsidering their choice to film in other states that have adjusted or eliminated their incentive programs. The statute that created the Film Office requires an annual report to the Legislature. This year's report was published on February 16th and is available as a downloadable PDF file. just click on the Public Information link at www.film.Alaska.gov |

Production Contact Information In deference to the desires of the most restrictive productions, the Film Office protects - as proprietary - most of the information provided with pre-qualification forms. However, in response to the desire to provide as much information as possible to the local industry (and the general public) we're now providing general information about production companies that have pre-qualified with the Film Office. A complete list of all productions that have pre-qualified is available on the Public Information page of the new site. Simply click on the Pre-Qualified Projects tab to see the list - we update the list with every new pre-qualified production. Contact information for the production company is available in the PDF Info. The list is sorted with the newest productions at the top so you can easily see what's new with a glance. In addition, when we receive requests from producers for assistance and their crew and casting calls, we'll be posting the information on the Film Office News page of the new website and on the blog section of the my account page of our ReelScout system. (You must be logged into your account to access our "reeljobs" blog.) We'll also use our Facebook (film.alaska.gov) and Twitter (AKFilmOffice) feeds as well as this newsletter to let you know about opportunities. |

Online Crew, Talent and Service Provider Listings The online Crew, Support Service Provider and Talent listings module of ReelScout is still our primary way of connecting filmmakers with the crew, support service and talent resources they'll need to work in Alaska. Over the past few months, ReelScout has introduced new functionality to the listings: now there is a place to list your "license" information. If your craft requires a license, please list it in ReelScout. You could also add your business license to make it easy for filmmakers to verify you're an Alaska Business. Take the time to review and update your listings frequently - it's the best no-cost marketing tool you'll find. And there is another reason to check your account often: when a production asks us for assistance with a crew call, we'll post that information on the Alaska Film News link on your account homepage. Questions about your listing? Give us a call! |
