Lorie L. Hovanec, Director

Ms. Hovanec was most recently employed as Vice President at Wells Fargo Alaska Trust Company. She has a broad background which includes experience as an attorney, as well as having worked in the insurance industry, as a community college instructor, and as a trust officer for a corporate fiduciary. She holds two bachelor degrees: one from the University of Alaska Anchorage in Anthropology with an emphasis in Alaska Native cultures and one in Foreign Language from Pacific Lutheran University. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Willamette University College of Law.

For 32 years, she has lived and worked in many areas of Alaska including Kodiak, the Mat-Su borough, and Anchorage.

Ms. Hovanec will be responsible for periodic examinations of state chartered banks, trust companies, credit unions, and BIDCO companies together with the enforcement of the Alaska Securities Act.

She is acting Vice Chair of the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority and is a member of the Alaska and American Bar Associations and the Alaska World Affairs Council.

Ms. Hovanec will be based in the division's Juneau office located in the Community Building.
