About 200 AmeriCorps members serve in urban and rural Alaskan communities addressing four primary areas of community needs: public safety, education, human needs, and environment. The Commission provides technical assistance and grant funding to community-based nonprofit agencies to expand community and volunteer services. AmeriCorps members serve for one year and receive a monthly living allowance and an education award at the end of their term. If you are interested in serving under one of these programs, you should contact the program directly. Members are not placed through the Commission office.
